طَلَعَ الْبَدْرُ عَلَيْنَا

طَلَعَ الْبَدْرُ عَلَيْنَا — مِنْ ثَنِيَّاتِ الْوَدَاعْ

The full moon rose upon us — from the valley of Wadāʿ

وَجَبَ الشُّكْرُ عَلَيْنَا — مَا دَعَا لِلَّهِ دَاعْ

Thanks are due upon us — as long as a caller calls to Allah

أَيُّهَا الْمَبْعُوثُ فِينَا — جِئْتَ بِالْأَمْرِ الْمُطَاعْ

O you sent among us — you came with the command obeyed

جِئْتَ شَرَّفْتَ الْمَدِينَةْ — مَرْحَبًا يَا خَيْرَ دَاعْ

You came and honoured Madīnah — welcome, O best of callers
