الْبَيْضَاءُ فِي عَقِيدَةِ السَّلَفِ وَنَجَاةِ الْخَلَفِ

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلْعَظِيمِ • الْوَاحِدِ الْكَرِيمِ
Praise be to the Magnificent, the One, the Generous.
▶ 0:15
مُصَلِّيًا مُسَلِّمَا • عَلَى الرَّسُولِ مُكْرَمَا
Sending prayer and peace upon the honored Messenger,
▶ 0:20
وَالْآلِ وَالْأَصْحَابِ • وَبَعْدُ يَا أَحْبَابِي
and upon his family and Companions. And now, O my beloved:
▶ 0:24
فَهَذِهِ الْبَيْضَاءُ • مَنْظُومَةٌ حَسْنَاءُ
this is 'al-Bayḍāʾ', a beautiful poem,
▶ 0:28
عَلَى عَقِيدَةِ السَّلَفْ • وَهْيَ النَّجَاةُ لِلْخَلَفْ
upon the creed of the Salaf — and it is salvation for those who come after.

قُرْآنُنَا وَالسُّنَّهْ • بِفَهْمِ خَيْرِ الْأُمَّهْ
Our Qur'an and the Sunna, by the understanding of the best of the nation.
▶ 0:39
أَكْرِمْ بِهِمْ مِنْ سَلَفِ • فَاعْضُضْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاقْتَفِ
How noble they are as Salaf! So hold fast to them and follow.
▶ 0:44
وَكُنْ لَهُمْ مُتَّبِعَا • لَا زَائِغًا مُبْتَدِعَا
Be a follower of them, not a deviant innovator.

مِنْ رَبِّنَا الرَّحْمَنِ • مَعْبُودِنَا الْمَنَّانِ
From our Lord, the Most Merciful, our worshipped, the Bestower:
▶ 0:56
اَللهُ رَبُّ الْخَلْقِ • يُمِدُّنَا بِالرِّزْقِ
Allah, Lord of creation, who supplies us with provision.
▶ 1:00
وَدِينُنَا الْإِسْلَامُ • مَعْنَاهُ الِاسْتِسْلَامُ
And our religion is Islam — its meaning is submission,
▶ 1:05
لِلَّهِ طَائِعِينَا • حَقًّا مُوَحِّدِينَا
obediently to Allah, truly affirming His oneness.
▶ 1:09
ثُمَّ النَّبِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ • اَلزَّكِيُّ مُرْشِدُ
Then the Prophet Muḥammad, the pure, a guide
▶ 1:13
لِلَّهِ هُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ • صَلَّى وَسَلَّمَ رَبِّي عَلَى حَبِيبِ الْقَلْبِ
to Allah; son of ʿAbd Allāh — may my Lord bless and grant peace upon the beloved of the heart.

خُلِقْتَ لِلتَّوْحِيدِ • وَطَاعَةِ الْمَجِيدِ
You were created for tawḥīd and the obedience of the Glorious.
▶ 1:31
فَأَفْرِدِ الْخَلَّاقَا • بِفِعْلِهِ الرَّزَّاقَا
So single out the Creator, the Provider, by His acts —
▶ 1:36
مُدَبِّرٌ وَنَافِعْ • وَمَالِكٌ وَرَافِعْ
Disposer, Benefiter, Owner, and Raiser —
▶ 1:40
مُعْتَقِدًا إِفْرَادَا • بِالْقَصْدِ وَالْعِبَادَهْ
believing in His oneness in intent and worship,
▶ 1:44
كَالذَّبْحِ وَالصَّلَاةِ • وَالْحَجِّ وَالزَّكَاةِ
such as sacrifice and prayer, pilgrimage and zakāt,
▶ 1:49
وَالنَّذْرِ وَالدُّعَاءِ • وَالْخَوْفِ وَالرَّجَاءِ
vows and supplication, fear and hope.
▶ 1:54
وَصَرْفُهَا لِغَيْرِهِ • شِرْكٌ خِلَافَ أَمْرِهِ
Directing them to other than Him is shirk, against His command.
▶ 1:59
لَهُ صِفَاتُهُ الْعُلَى • وَأَسْمَاؤُهُ الْحُسْنَى
To Him belong His lofty attributes and His most beautiful names,
▶ 2:04
بِلَا تَحْرِيفٍ أَوْ تَعْطِيلْ • تَكْيِيفٍ أَوْ تَمْثِيلْ
without distortion, denial, asking 'how', or likening.
▶ 2:09
فَرَبُّنَا عَظِيمُ • وَوَجْهُهُ كَرِيمُ
For our Lord is Magnificent, and His Face is Generous.
▶ 2:13
فَوْقَ السَّمَاءِ قَدْ عَلَا • حَقًّا عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَى
Above the heaven He has ascended; truly, over the Throne He rose (istawā).
▶ 2:19
وَيَنْزِلُ الْغَفَّارُ • إِذَا تَجِي الْأَسْحَارُ
And the Oft-Forgiving descends when the pre-dawn hours come,
▶ 2:24
ذُو الدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلْيَا • إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا
the Possessor of the highest ranks, to the lowest heaven.
▶ 2:28
قُرْآنُهُ الْمُرَتَّلُ • كَلَامُهُ الْمُنَزَّلُ
His recited Qur'an is His speech, sent down,
▶ 2:32
وَلَيْسَ بِالْمَخْلُوقِ • أَوْ نَاقِصٍ مَلْحُوقِ
and it is not created, nor deficient or invented.
▶ 2:39
فَلْتَحْمِيَنْ جَنَابَهُ • وَطَهِّرَنْ رِحَابَهُ
So guard the sanctuary of tawḥīd and purify its courtyard.
▶ 2:44
وَاحْلِفْ بِرَبِّ الْخَلْقِ • لَا بِالنَّبِيِّ وَالْخَلْقِ
Swear by the Lord of creation, not by the Prophet or creation.
▶ 2:49
وَلَا تَقُلْ مُطِرْنَا • بِالنَّجْمِ أَوْ أُخْصِبْنَا
Do not say 'we were given rain by a star' or 'we were made fertile [by it]'.
▶ 2:54
وَرَبُّنَا قَدْ شَاءَ • لَا سَوَّاءَ وَلَوْ لَدَى التَّعَذُّرْ • لِلذَّنْبِ وَالتَّحَسُّرْ
Our Lord has willed [all]; do not say 'if only', even at hardship, for sin and regret.

وَالدَّهْرَ لَا تَسُبَّا • وَالرِّيحَ تُؤْذِي الرَّبَّا
Do not curse time, nor the wind — that harms the Lord.
▶ 3:07
أَوْ تَغْلُ فِي الدِّينِ • أَوْ تُفْرِطْ فِي اللِّينِ
Nor be extreme in religion, nor excessive in leniency.
▶ 3:12
أَوْ تُطْرِ نَبِيًّا • أَوْ صَالِحًا وَلِيًّا
Nor over-praise a prophet, or a righteous saint,
▶ 3:16
أَوْ تَهْزَأْ بِاللهِ • أَوْ دِينِهِ الْوَاهِي
nor mock Allah, or His religion.
▶ 3:22
بِالثَّابِتِ التَّبَرُّكُ • وَمَا سِوَاهُ يُتْرَكُ
Seeking blessing (tabarruk) is by what is established; whatever else is left.
▶ 3:27
وَجَازَتِ الْوَسِيلَهْ • بِالطَّاعَةِ الْجَلِيلَهْ
Tawassul is permitted by noble obedience,
▶ 3:32
وَوَصْفِهِ وَالْأَسْمَى • ثُمَّ دُعَاءِ الْأَحْيَاءِ
by His description and names, then by the supplication of the living.
▶ 3:37
وَلَا تَسَلْ مَقْبُورَا • أَوْ عِنْدَهُ الْغَفُورَا
Do not ask one buried, nor seek forgiveness at his grave.
▶ 3:42
وَاجْتَنِبِ التَّمَائِمَا • وَالسِّحْرَ وَالتَّشَاؤُمَا
Avoid amulets, magic, and ill omens.
▶ 3:47
وَلَا تُصَدِّقْ بُرْجَا • وَكَاهِنًا مُعْوَجَّا
Do not believe a horoscope, or a crooked soothsayer.
▶ 3:52
وَكُنْ جَمِيلَ الظَّنِّ • بِاللهِ وَالتَّمَنِّي
Have a beautiful opinion of Allah, and good hope.
▶ 3:56
فَعَالِمُ الْغُيُوبِ • وَغَافِرُ الذُّنُوبِ
For He is the Knower of the unseen, and the Forgiver of sins,
▶ 4:01
وَكَاشِفُ الْكُرُوبِ • وَشَاهِدُ الْقُلُوبِ
the Remover of distress, and the Witness over hearts —
▶ 4:05
اَللهُ دُونَ شِرْكِ • حَقًّا بِغَيْرِ شَكِّ
Allah, without any partner, truly, without doubt.
▶ 4:18
إِسْلَامُنَا السَّعَادَهْ • أَوَّلُهُ الشَّهَادَهْ
Our Islam is happiness; its first [pillar] is the testimony:
▶ 4:23
لَا رَبَّ لَا إِلَهَ • بِالْحَقِّ إِلَّا اللهَ
there is no Lord, no [true] god in truth, except Allah.
▶ 4:27
أَعْبُدُهُ بِمَا شَرَعْ • رَسُولُهُ وَمَا مَنَعْ
I worship Him by what His Messenger legislated, and what he forbade
▶ 4:32
أَتْرُكُهُ جَمِيعَا • مُصَدِّقًا مُطِيعَا
I leave entirely — affirming and obedient.
▶ 4:37
وَخَمْسَنَا نُصَلِّي • وَمَالَنَا نُزَكِّي
Five [times] we pray, and our wealth we purify (zakāt).
▶ 4:42
فِي رَمَضَانَ صَوْمُنَا • لِبَيْتِ رَبِّ حَجُّنَا
In Ramadan is our fasting; to the House of the Lord is our pilgrimage.
▶ 4:47
إِيمَانُنَا بِاللهِ • الْوَاحِدِ الْإِلَهِ
Our faith is in Allah, the One [true] God,
▶ 4:52
وَبَعْدُ بِالْمَلَائِكَهْ • وَكُتُبِهِ الْمُبَارَكَهْ
then in the angels, and His blessed books,
▶ 4:57
وَرُسُلِهِ وَالْقَدَرِ • وَيَوْمِهِ الْمُؤَخَّرِ
and His messengers, and the divine decree, and the Last Day.
▶ 5:01
مَلَائِكٌ مِنْ نُورِ • تَعْمَلُ بِالْمَأْمُورِ
Angels, made of light, carry out what is commanded,
▶ 5:06
كَخَازِنِ الْجِنَانِ • وَمَالِكِ النِّيرَانِ
such as the keeper of the Gardens and the keeper of the Fires.
▶ 5:11
مِيكَالُ إِسْرَافِيلُ • وَخَيْرُهُمْ جِبْرِيلُ
Mīkāl, Isrāfīl, and the best of them, Jibrīl.
▶ 5:16
وَكُتُبُهُ الدُّسْتُورُ • اَلصُّحُفُ وَالزَّبُورُ
His books are the [revealed] code: the Scrolls and the Zabūr (Psalms),
▶ 5:21
تَوْرَاةُ وَالْإِنْجِيلُ • وَهَيْمَنَ التَّنْزِيلُ
the Torah and the Gospel, and the [Qur'an,] the guardian revelation.
▶ 5:25
وَرُسُلُهُ بِالْحَتْمِ • أَفْضَلُهُمْ ذُو الْعَزْمِ
His messengers, certainly — the best of them are those of firm resolve:
▶ 5:30
نُوحٌ فَإِبْرَاهِيمُ • وَبَعْدَهُ الْكَلِيمُ
Nūḥ, then Ibrāhīm, and after him the one who spoke with Allah (Mūsā),
▶ 5:35
وَبَعْدُ عِيسَى الْمُصْطَفَى • أَفْضَلُهُمْ وَالْمُنْتَهَى
and then ʿĪsā the chosen; the best of them and the seal [is Muḥammad].
▶ 5:41
وَقَدَرُ الْحَكِيمِ • بِعِلْمِهِ الْعَمِيمِ
And the decree of the Wise [is] by His all-encompassing knowledge.
▶ 5:45
فَكَتَبَهُ الْمُقَدَّرْ • فَشَاءَهُ ثُمَّ بَرَّ
He wrote it as decreed, then willed it, then it came to be.
▶ 5:50
نُؤْمِنُ بِالْمُفَصَّلِ • فِيمَا مَضَى وَالْمُجْمَلِ
We believe in the detailed and the general of what has passed.
▶ 5:56
وَالدِّينُ يَا إِخْوَانُ • قِمَّتُهُ الْإِحْسَانُ
And the religion, O brothers — its peak is iḥsān:
▶ 6:01
نَعْبُدُ الْإِلَهَ كَأَنَّنَا نَرَاهُ • أَوْ نَقِينَا الْإِيقَانَ بِأَنَّهُ يَرَانَا
We worship God as if we see Him, or attaining certainty that He sees us.
▶ 6:07
إِيمَانُنَا بِاللِّسَانِ • وَالْقَلْبِ وَالْأَرْكَانِ
Our faith is by the tongue, the heart, and the limbs;
▶ 6:12
يَزِيدُ بِالطَّاعَاتِ • يَقِلُّ بِالزَّلَّاتِ
it increases with acts of obedience, and decreases with slips.
▶ 6:17
وَلْتَحْذَرِ الْإِرْجَاءَ • وَالشِّرْكَ وَالرِّيَاءَ
Beware of irjāʾ (deferment), shirk, and showing off (riyāʾ).
▶ 6:22
وَلَا تُكَفِّرْ مُسْلِمَا • بِالذَّنْبِ مَهْمَا عَظُمَا
Do not declare a Muslim a disbeliever for a sin, however great,
▶ 6:26
مَا لَمْ يُصِبْ مُكَفِّرَا • وَالْخَارِجِيَّ فَاحْذَرَا
so long as he commits nothing that nullifies faith; and beware the Khārijī way.
▶ 6:33
نُؤْمِنُ بِالْقِيَامَهْ • وَالْقَبْرِ فِي الْبِدَايَهْ
We believe in the Resurrection, and the grave at the start,
▶ 6:38
سُؤَالِهِ وَضَمَّتِهِ • عَذَابِهِ وَنِعْمَتِهِ
its questioning, its squeezing, its punishment and its bliss.
▶ 6:43
فَالْبَعْثِ ثُمَّ الْحَشْرِ • عَلَى اخْتِلَافِ الْقَدْرِ
Then the rising, then the gathering, upon differing measures.
▶ 6:48
فَيَشْفَعُ النَّبِيُّ • مَقَامُهُ الْعَلِيُّ
Then the Prophet intercedes — his is the lofty station.
▶ 6:53
فَيُنْشَرُ الْكِتَابُ • وَيَبْدَأُ الْحِسَابُ
Then the record is spread, and the reckoning begins,
▶ 6:58
بِالْعَدْلِ وَالْمِيزَانِ • وَالْفَضْلِ وَالْغُفْرَانِ
with justice and the Scale, and with grace and forgiveness.
▶ 7:02
نُؤْمِنُ بِالظِّلَالِ • وَالْحَوْضِ وَالْأَهْوَالِ
We believe in the shades, the Pool (Ḥawḍ), and the terrors,
▶ 7:07
وَالْجِسْرِ وَالنِّيرَانِ • وَالْخُلْدِ وَالْجِنَانِ
the Bridge (Ṣirāṭ) and the Fires, eternity and the Gardens,
▶ 7:11
وَرُؤْيَةِ الْأَبْرَارِ • بِالْعَيْنِ لِلْجَبَّارِ
and the seeing of the righteous, with the eye, of the Almighty.
▶ 7:19
نُوَحِّدُ الْقَهَّارَ • وَنَتَّبِعُ الْمُخْتَارَ
We affirm the oneness of the Subduer, and we follow the Chosen one.
▶ 7:24
تَعْظِيمُنَا لِلْمُصْطَفَى • بِلَا غُلُوٍّ أَوْ جَفَا
Our reverence for the Chosen one is without extremism or coldness.
▶ 7:29
نُؤْمِنُ بِالتَّكْرِيمِ • وَالْحُبِّ وَالتَّسْلِيمِ
We believe in honoring, love, and submission
▶ 7:34
لِآلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ • وَزَوْجِهِ وَحِزْبِهِ
for his family and Companions, his wives and his party.
▶ 7:39
سُبْحَانَهُ فَضَّلَهُمْ • رَبُّكَ مَا اسْتَخْلَفَهُمْ
Glory be to Him who favored them; your Lord made them successors.
▶ 7:44
نَكُفُّ عَمَّا شَجَرَا • بَيْنَهُمُ وَمَا جَرَى
We refrain from what arose between them and what occurred.
▶ 7:49
نَبَرُّ وَالِدِينَا • وَالْعُلَمَاءَ لَدَيْنَا
We are dutiful to our parents, and to the scholars among us,
▶ 7:54
وَالصَّالِحَ الْوَلِيَّ • اَلْمُؤْمِنَ التَّقِيَّ
and the righteous saint, the pious believer.
▶ 7:58
وَنُكْرِمُ الْإِخْوَانَا • وَالْأَهْلَ وَالْجِيرَانَا
We honor the brothers, the family, and the neighbors.
▶ 8:03
وَنَلْزَمُ الْجَمَاعَهْ • وَالنُّصْحَ وَالْإِطَاعَهْ
We adhere to the community, sincerity, and obedience
▶ 8:08
لِأَوْلِيَاءِ الْأَمْرِ • فِي مَنْشَطٍ أَوْ عُسْرِ
to those in authority, in ease or hardship,
▶ 8:13
فِي غَيْرِ عِصْيَانِ • وَلْنَدْعُ لِلسُّلْطَانِ
in other than disobedience [to Allah]; and let us pray for the ruler
▶ 8:17
وَالْمُسْلِمِينَ الْهَمَّا • وَالْكَافِرِينَ عَامَّهْ • بِالْحُبِّ وَالْإِسْعَافِ • وَالْبُغْضِ وَالْإِنْصَافِ
and the Muslims generally, and the disbelievers — with love and aid, and with dislike and fairness.
▶ 8:26
وَلْتَحْفَظِ اللِّسَانَا • وَطَهِّرِ الْجَنَانَا
Guard the tongue, and purify the heart.
▶ 8:31
وَاصْبِرْ لِأَجْلِ الْحَقِّ • وَكُنْ جَمِيلَ الْخَلْقِ
Be patient for the sake of truth, and be of beautiful character:
▶ 8:36
سَهْلًا حَلِيمًا رَاحِمَا • جَلْدًا كَرِيمًا حَازِمَا
gentle, forbearing, merciful, steadfast, generous, resolute.
▶ 8:41
مَكَارِمُ الْأَخْلَاقِ • مَفَاتِحُ الْأَرْزَاقِ
Noble character traits are the keys to provisions;
▶ 8:46
وَتَرْفَعُ الْإِنْسَانَا • وَتُثَقِّلُ الْمِيزَانَا
they raise the human and weigh down the Scale [with good].
▶ 8:56
تَمَّتْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّي • حَبِيبِهِ لِقَلْبِي
It is complete, by the praise of my Lord, and His beloved dear to my heart.
▶ 9:01
حَاوِيَةُ الْأُصُولِ • مَأْمُولَةُ الْقَبُولِ
[It is] a container of the fundamentals, hoping for acceptance.
▶ 9:06
أَحْيَا بِهَا حَيَاتِي • أَرْجُو بِهَا نَجَاتِي
By it I revive my life; through it I hope for my salvation.
▶ 9:10
يَا رَبِّ يَسِّرْ عِلْمَهَا • وَشَرْحَهَا وَفَهْمَهَا
O Lord, make easy its knowledge, its explanation, and its understanding,
▶ 9:15
وَارْحَمْ مَنِ اعْتَنَى بِهَا • وَأَشْرِكْهُ فِي ثَوَابِهَا
and have mercy on whoever cares for it, and grant him a share in its reward.
▶ 9:20
وَالْحَمْدُ لِلْحَمِيدِ • خَاتِمَةُ الْقَصِيدِ
And praise be to the Praiseworthy — the conclusion of the poem.
