بِحَمْدِ رَبِّي يُبْدَأُ الْمُنِيرَهْ • ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ سِيرَهْ
With the praise of my Lord 'al-Munīra' begins; then prayer and peace — a biography.

عَلَى نَبِيٍّ اسْمُهُ مُحَمَّدُ • أَبُوهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ مِنْهُ مُفْرَدُ
Upon a Prophet whose name is Muḥammad; his father was ʿAbd Allāh.

وَجَدُّهُ شَيْبَةُ عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبْ • مِنْ نَسْلِ عَدْنَانَ وَأَصْلُهُ الْعَرَبْ
His grandfather is Shayba (ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib), of ʿAdnān's line; his root is Arab.

وَأُمُّهُ بِنْتٌ لِوَهْبٍ آمِنَهْ • أَجْدَادُهُ بَيْنَ قُرَيْشٍ كَائِنَهْ
His mother is Āmina, daughter of Wahb; his forefathers are among Quraysh.

مَوْلِدُهُ فِي الْبَلَدِ الْأَمِينِ • عَامَ قُدُومِ الْفِيلِ لِلتَّبْيِينِ
His birth was in the secure land (Mecca), the Year of the Elephant — to make clear.

فِي يَوْمِ الِاثْنَيْنِ رَبِيعِ الْأَوَّلِ • فِي ثَانِي عِشْرِهِ حِسَابًا عُوِّلِي
On Monday, in Rabīʿ al-Awwal, on its twelfth by the relied-upon reckoning.

مُسْتَرْضِعًا أَتَمَّ مَعْ حَلِيمَهْ • أَرْبَعَةَ الْأَعْوَامِ فِي غَنِيمَهْ
Nursed, he completed four years with Ḥalīma, in blessing.

وَأُمُّهُ عَقِيبَ سِتٍّ مَاتَتِ • وَجَدُّهُ بَعْدَ ثَمَانٍ وُفِيَتِ
His mother died after six [years], and his grandfather passed after eight.

ثُمَّ أَبُو طَالِبٍ عَمُّهُ كَفَلْ • وَزَارَ بُصْرَى الشَّامِ مَعْهُ وَارْتَحَلْ
Then his uncle Abū Ṭālib raised him; he travelled with him and visited Buṣrā of Shām.

مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مُتَّجِرًا فِي مَالِ • خَدِيجَةٍ فَزَوَّجَتْ فِي التَّالِي
After that he traded with Khadīja's wealth, and she then married him.

وَفِي تَمَامِ أَرْبَعِينَ أُرْسِلَا • لِلنَّاسِ يَهْدِيهِمْ لِدِينٍ حُمِّلَا
At the completion of forty [years] he was sent to guide people to the religion entrusted to him.

يَدْعُو إِلَى التَّوْحِيدِ جَوْفَ مَكَّهْ • ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ سِنِينًا تَمَّتِ
He called to monotheism within Mecca; thirteen years were completed.

وَبَعْدَهَا هِجْرَتُهُ تَعَيَّنَتْ • لِطَيْبَةٍ ثُمَّ السُّيُوفُ شُرِعَتْ
After them his migration to Ṭayba (Medina) was decreed; then the swords were drawn.

سَبْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ غَزَا بِنَصْرِةِ • وَمَوْتُهُ فِي حَادِي عِشْرِ الْهِجْرَةِ
Twenty-seven expeditions he led with [Allah's] aid; his death was in the eleventh year of the Hijra.

أَزْوَاجُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ خَدِيجٍ عَشْرَهْ • سَوْدَةُ ثُمَّ عَائِشُ الْمُطَهَّرَهْ
His wives after Khadīja were ten: Sawda, then ʿĀʾisha the pure,

فَحَفْصَةٌ زَيْنَبُ أُمُّ سَلَمَهْ • وَبِنْتُ جَحْشٍ زَيْنَبُ الْمُكَرَّمَهْ
then Ḥafṣa, Zaynab, Umm Salama, and the daughter of Jaḥsh — Zaynab the honored,

ثُمَّ ابْنَةُ الْحَارِثِ ذِي جُوَيْرِيَهْ • أُمُّ حَبِيبَةَ وَرَمْلَةٌ هِيَهْ
then the daughter of al-Ḥārith, Juwayriya; and Umm Ḥabība — she is Ramla,

صَفِيَّةٌ مَيْمُونَةٌ وَالْجَامِعَهْ • مِنْ نَسْلِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ لَا التَّاسِعَهْ
Ṣafiyya and Maymūna; all share the lineage of Ismāʿīl — except the ninth (Ṣafiyya).

أَوْلَادُهُ الْقَاسِمُ عَبْدُ اللهِ • الطَّاهِرُ الطَّيِّبُ زَاكِي الْجَاهِ
His children: al-Qāsim, ʿAbd Allāh, al-Ṭāhir, al-Ṭayyib — of pure rank,

وَزَيْنَبٌ رُقَيَّةٌ وَفَاطِمَهْ • وَأُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْخَاتِمَهْ
and Zaynab, Ruqayya, Fāṭima, Umm Kulthūm, and Ibrāhīm the last.
